'What music means to me'

For my constructing narratives project at University I collaborated with my sister Ami-Rose to create a set of images surrounding her love for music. My sister has Williams syndrome and because of this disability the text written is really quite childlike which makes the whole project really innocent and calming.  Williams Syndrome affects 1 in 10,000 people worldwide.   Many children with WS clearly go through each day with a song (or a dance) in their hearts. Music seems to be at their fingertips, and in spite of problems in almost every other area they can be totally consumed by music of every type, and have great concentration for all things musical.

To begin with I ask Ami-Rose to create a text on music which she titled herself 'what music means to me', However as the project progressed so did this idea. In the end my final edit of images consisted of quotes from her favorite songs that stood out to her.

The imagery itself, is a spinning vinyl record of each album related to the text beneath. My main inspiration imagery wise for this project was Hiroshi Sugimoto with his book 'Joe'.
